Uşak University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and Business Community organized a seminar on "'TÜİK in its 98th Year'". Uşak University Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Birgin, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Kenan Taş, faculty deans, college directors, academicians and students attended the event held at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Congress and Culture Center.

Delivering the opening speech, Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Taş, Dean of Uşak University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, emphasized the importance of data collection and use.

Pointing out the importance of Turkish Statistical Institute ("TÜİK") data for academics, Dean Prof. Dr. Taş said; “Thanks to TÜİK statistics, we can learn about Turkey's economic, social and demographic situation. The collaboration between the university and TÜİK is also an important step in terms of social development and the advancement of scientific knowledge. We frequently make use of TÜİK data in the implementation of our work. In the last 10 years, the number of articles written using TÜİK data has exceeded 20 thousand. Universities are equipped with academic knowledge and expertise, while TÜİK is equipped with a large database and statistical methods. This unity enables more effective research to be conducted, healthier policy recommendations to be developed and more effective solutions to social problems to be found. In this sense, we think that academic and TÜİK connections are very strong and that TÜİK data should be used much more in academic research. We want this cooperation to be strengthened even more. In the program, TÜİK Manisa Regional Director Selçuk Direkçi, Social Research Group Manager Ahmet Murat Şen, Economic Research Group Manager Mehmet Kamacı and Information Processing and Communication Team Responsible Anıl Feyza Ekşi shared important information with the audience about TÜİK's working areas and data processing and preparation.
