Uşak University Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş drew attention to the fact that the Leather, Textile, Ceramics (DTS) Design, Application and Research Center, which has accomplished important works since its establishment, has reduced foreign dependency on design. Underlining that designs are imported, especially in the ceramic industry, but the designs made by the DTS Design Center are being used by the ceramic companies in our country, Rector Savaş gave information about the works of the DTS Design Center Ceramics Unit.

Stating that since the day the DTS Design Center Ceramics Unit was founded, Turkey's most important ceramic companies such as  Seranova Seramik, Hitit Seramik, Veli Akgün Seramik, Duratiles Group, Decovita Building Products, Thermal Ceramic, Söğütsen Seramik, NG Kütahya Seramik, Yuksel Seramik, Yurtbay Seramik,  Graniser Seramik, Bien Seramik, Seranit Seramik, H. Ülger Seramik, Kütahya Porselen and Anka Seramik have been appointed, Prof. Dr. Savaş said, “During the meetings, our DTS Design Center was introduced, and discussions were held with companies about the designs to be made at the DTS Design Center. Design projects were made by adhering to the design expectations and wishes of the companies, and most of the products were exhibited in ceramic fairs, Cersaie, Unicera and the companies' own showrooms. In this process, we accelerated our work by signing cooperation protocols with  Uşak Seramik San. A.Ş., Seranova Seramik San. and Tic. A.Ş., Hitit Seramik San. ve Tic. A.Ş., Veli Akgün Construction Ceramic Industry and Tic. A.Ş, Decovita Building Products and San. and Tic. A.Ş. and Termal Seramik San. Tic. A.Ş..”  he said. Noting that a total of 340 new design projects have been developed in the DTS Design Center Ceramics Unit to date, Prof. Dr. Savaş said, “Our design, which was liked by Seranova Seramik, was included in the company's product portfolio as "Horizon" and added to the product catalogue. Akgün Seramik, Uşak Seramik, and Termal Seramik companies exhibited 3 of our designs at the 2019 Cersaie Italy fair. We participated in the 2020 CNR Unicera Istanbul Bathroom and Kitchen Fair on behalf of Uşak University DTS Ceramics department and opened a stand. At the fair, Yüksel Seramik exhibited a total of 7 of our design projects with the “Design By Uşak University” logo on its stand. 2 of our design projects by H. Ülger Seramik at the Istanbul CNR Expo Host Fair, 4 of our design projects developed for Graniser Seramik, with the “Design By Uşak University” logo, at the Unicera Ceramics, Bathroom, Kitchen Fair CNR Expo Istanbul Expo Center, for the Termal Seramik company. Our 2 design projects, developed for Uşak Seramik, are at their Antalya Launch with the “Design By Uşak University” logo, and our 15 design projects developed for the Uşak Seramik company are Unicera Seramik, with the “Design By Uşak University” logo.

Adding that DTS Design Center also develops projects, Prof. Dr. Savaş underlined that 4 design studies prepared by DTS Design Center personnel were approved by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office and received a registration certificate. Explaining that DTS Design Center also develops projects, Prof. Dr. Savaş said: “Our DTS Ceramics Unit is currently continuing its projects named 'Integration of Design Practices with Innovative Technologies in Leather, Textile and Ceramics' and 'Digital Design and Prototype Development for the Ceramic Coating Industry'.” Rector Savaş stated that they have strengthened their work on design by providing trainings and organizing events on the subject.
