This week, Uşak University Student Mansion and Culture House hosted retired faculty member Prof. Dr. Recep Yıldırım from Dokuz Eylül University Buca Faculty of Education.

The event was attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Lütfi Özav, Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Bülent Çavaş, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Sadık Sarısaman, academicians and students.

The program was moderated by Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Education Dr. Lecturer Mehtap Dönmez Şahin. In her speech, Prof. Dr. Yıldırım shared anecdotes from her student years, explaining the transformative effect of education on individuals based on her own life story. Yıldırım touched on her educational journey starting from the village and extending to the academy, and said, “Every child can achieve great things if they receive a good education.” He advised young people to use their mother tongue correctly and beautifully, and to learn at least two or three foreign languages.

In the following sections of the interview, Prof. Dr. Yıldırım touched upon his academic career and the process of turning to archaeology and shared his experiences in excavations with the participants.

The event also featured a musical recital, prepared by Lecturer Dr. Onur Altıntuğ from the Faculty of Education, featuring Melih Zengin on the violin.

The program ended with Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Lütfi Özav and Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Bülent Çavaş presenting Prof. Dr. Yıldırım with a plaque and certificate of appreciation, and a group photo.
