Uşak University Advisory Board held the first meeting of 2025

The first Advisory Board Meeting of Uşak University for 2025 was held on 25 March 2025 at the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Congress and Culture Centre Senate Hall.

Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş chaired the Uşak University Advisory Board meeting, which was formed with the participation of representatives from public institutions, organizations and non-governmental organizations in Uşak in order to ensure sustainable cooperation and to share experience.

Prof. Dr. Ken Taş, Prof. Dr. Lütfi Özav and Prof. Dr. Osman Birgin, Secretary General Bülent Şahin, Uşak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UTSO) Chairman Suat Selim Kandemir, Uşak (Leather) Mixed Organised Industrial Zone Chairman Coşkun Güngör, Uşak Commodity Exchange Chairman Mustafa Sezer, Uşak Provincial Director of Industry and Technology Şükran Petek Atış, Uşak Provincial Director of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change Bülent Güngör, Zafer Development Agency Uşak Investment Support Office Coordinator Halil Yoldaş, Uşak Provincial Deputy Director of National Education Ali Demir, Uşak Provincial Deputy Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mustafa Özen, Uşak Union of Chambers of Tradesmen and Craftsmen Secretary General Canan Öz, Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MÜSİAD) Uşak Branch President İbrahim Akkaş, Uşak İŞKUR Deputy Provincial Director Zafer Kahraman, UTSO Secretary General Naci Utku Yumuşak, Balta Orient Textile Industry and Trade Co. Betül Sarı and Sena Arman, a graduate of Uşak University, attended.

Quality Studies of the University were evaluated

In the meeting, information was given about the interim evaluation made by the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK) and the studies carried out in line with the decisions taken in the previous meeting.

Uşak University Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş, in his speech at the opening of the meeting, drew attention to the importance of the development of the university and quality studies. Rector Savaş emphasised the successes achieved in national and international accreditation processes and said, ‘We are at a good point in terms of both national and international accreditations. We are ranked 601st among the young universities in the world in the UK-based Times Higher Education (THE) ranking. We are also ranked in the QS Europe ranking. In the UI Green Metric, we made a significant leap this year and entered the top 500 universities. Currently, 13 of our departments are accredited at the national level and 26 departments have applied for accreditation.’

Cooperation with the Sector and Employment of Graduates

Rector Savaş emphasised the importance the university attaches to cooperation with the sector and gave information about the efforts to increase the employability of graduates. Prof. Dr. Savaş said, ‘One of the reasons why graduates cannot find a job is that they do not fully possess the competencies demanded by the sector. In order to close this gap, we are in contact with our graduates and the institutions they work for through our Alumni Office and Career Development Coordinatorship and we conduct regular surveys. We constantly update our education programmes in line with the feedback we receive.’

In the meeting, Vice Rector and Quality Coordinator Prof. Dr. Kenan Taş gave detailed information about the quality studies of Uşak University and the updates made in line with the decisions taken in the previous meeting.

After the opinions and evaluations of the participants, the meeting ended with the wishes to increase cooperation in line with the goal of further improving the quality processes of the university.
