Uşak University Leather, Textile and Ceramic Design Application and Research Center (DTS Design Center) has achieved a significant success in the international arena.

Uşak University DTS Design Center has achieved a great success in the project carried out for the design of clothing and equipment for the European Union rescEU Emergency Medical Team (EMT) personnel. As a result of the presentations, preliminary studies and interviews presented by the DTS Design Center, a cooperation agreement was made with Uşak University for the design of the clothes.

Project Details and Objectives

The European Commission has decided to establish a new Emergency Medical Team (rescEU EMT), allocating €106.2 million to a working group of Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal, Romania, Luxembourg, Turkey and Romania to improve the ability to respond to disasters. The main objective of the project is to increase emergency medical support to populations affected by large-scale natural hazards or man-made disasters. It is planned to have three Type 2 Emergency Medical Teams (EMT2) and 17 specialized care teams. The clothes of the new rescEU EMT teams, which aim to be the largest in Europe and one of the most important worldwide, will be designed by Uşak University DTS Design Center.

 Role and Contributions of the DTS Design Center

The presentations made by DTS Design Center for the clothing and equipment of this important international institution were appreciated and an agreement was reached for the preparation of the designs. All design details and product developments of the RescEU EMT team, from colors to theme, will be carried out by DTS Design Center. DTS Design Center's team of designers and engineers will prepare functional designs for RescEU EMT that will provide advantages in the field, facilitate disaster response and be protective. These designs will be the face of the rescEU EMT teams in the field and are expected to successfully represent the institution on international platforms.

Uşak University Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş underlined that this important cooperation is a big step in terms of showing Turkey's design and innovation power by increasing the international recognition and prestige of Uşak University DTS Design Center.

 Stating that they set out with the slogan 'A City with a Name, a World as a Target' and proved that this is not just a slogan with their work, Rector Savaş congratulated the DTS Design Center and all those who contributed.
