At Usak University, the "Support for Palestine/Spring Activities" have begun

On the first day of the event organized by Usak University with the theme of "Support for Palestine/Spring Activities" this year, support tents were set up for Palestine, and various activities were organized to increase awareness about disabilities within the scope of the 10-16 May Disability Week.

The first day's activities aimed to support the participation of disabled individuals in society and to strengthen solidarity in overcoming obstacles. The "Awareness Walk" took place first. The walk, which started in front of the Rectorate, was attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş, Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Kenan Taş, Prof. Dr. Lütfi Özav, and Prof. Dr. Osman Birgin, academics, administrative staff, and students.

After the walk, at the event held in the area next to the Student Life Center, Usak University Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş, who spoke, said; "This week, under the theme of 'Support for Palestine/Spring Activities,' we are organizing a series of events at our university. Welcome to our awareness event. We, as a university, value creating social awareness and consciousness. With these activities, we aim to increase the levels of awareness and empathy in our students and society in general. Tomorrow, we will organize a support walk for Palestine with the participation of our academic, administrative staff, and student groups. On May 16, our former Minister of Forestry and Water Affairs, Prof. Dr. Veysel Eroğlu, will meet with you. Our support tent for Palestine will be open throughout the week."

After Rector Savaş's speech, a poetry and music recital was held. As part of this, Rector Savaş also read a poem by Sezai Karakoç.

After the speeches, Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş and his entourage visited the booths of the Disability Unit Coordination, Faculty of Fine Arts, and our graduate student Teslime Nur Aytekin's painting booths, the Barrier-Free Association booth, the diabetes booth, and the Youth Center booth to receive information.

At the end of the program, Instructor Dr. Onur Altıntuğ, our students Yasemin Günder, Beyza Nur Aygören, and Ali Oruç Yılmaz, and Bilal Demirci and Mustafa Aydemir from the Directorate of Religious Affairs were given certificates of appreciation for their contributions to the events.

As part of the activities, a conference titled "Barrier-Free Mosque - Barrier-Free Worship," moderated by Bilal Demirci, was held at the Usak University Campus Mosque, organized by the Disability Unit Coordination with the contributions of the Usak Provincial Mufti's Office. In the conference, Expert Preacher Zekeriyya Karaca and Mufti's Office Disability Coordinators Fatma Ebru Sarıca and Mustafa Aydemir met with the audience.

After the event, lokma (a traditional Turkish sweet) was served to the participants.
