A conference on ‘Women in the Mysterious World of Motifs: Symbols, Meanings and Reflections in Turkish Culture’ was held within the scope of the Women in Academia Project carried out by Uşak University Women and Family Studies Research and Application Centre and Uşak Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services.
Lecturer from the Department of Carpet and Rug Making at Eşme Vocational School Senay Şeyranlı was the speaker of the conference held in Mustafa Kemal Paşa Amphitheatre. The conference was attended by the Director of the Women and Family Studies Application and Research Centre Dr. Lecturer. Prof. Ayşe Gültekin, academicians and students.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Director of Women and Family Studies Application and Research Centre Dr. Lecturer. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Gültekin gave information about the programme and said the following: ‘We are holding the third conference of the Women's Studies in Academia Project, which we plan as a series of conferences. Previously, ‘Women in Ancient Greek and Roman Society’ was given by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Münteha Dinç from the Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and ‘Midwifery and Midwifery History, one of the oldest women's professions in history’ was given by Lecturer from the Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing. Assist. Dr Şeyma Çatalgöl. This series of conferences will continue throughout the year.’

Explaining that women have changed from society to society in history, Lecturer. Assist. Şeyranlı shared the place of women in Turkish society with the audience. Lecturer. Assist. Senay Şeyranlı demonstrated how the female figure is used in motifs in her presentation.

The programme was held under the supervision of Dr. Lecturer Ayşe Gültekin, Director of the Women and Family Studies Application and Research Centre.
