‘Aegean Region 1st Climate Change and Sustainable Agriculture Panel’ was hosted by Uşak University and organised by Uşak University Climate Change and Sustainable Agriculture Community with the support of the UNIDES Programme of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Uşak University Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Congress and Culture Center, Uşak University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Lütfi Özav, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Mehmet Fatih Çelen, Climate Change and Sustainable Agriculture Community Academic Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Uğur Yıldırım, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülcan Tarla, Pamukkale University Faculty of Agriculture Dr. Faculty Member Tuba Bak, academicians and students attended the panel.

Climate Change and Sustainable Agriculture Community Academic Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Uğur Yıldırım opened the panel.

Uşak University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Lütfi Özav drew attention to the effects of industrialisation and climate change on agriculture in his speech.

After the opening speeches, a folk dance team took the stage in order to refer to the Aegean Region.

The first session of the panel was chaired by Dr Tuba Bak from Pamukkale University Faculty of Agriculture. Presentations in the first session: Sude Cangür from Uşak University Faculty of Agriculture, ‘The Necessity of Sustainability in Agriculture’, Burak Arda Özkan from Pamukkale University Faculty of Agriculture, ‘Medicinal and Aromatic Plants: Adaptation to Changing Conditions’, Mert Utlu from Aydın Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Agriculture “Pollinators and Their Importance”, Özgür Serhat Yılmaz from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Faculty of Agriculture “Use of New Technologies in Agriculture”, Süha Erkutoğlu from Ege University Faculty of Agriculture “Future of Strategic Agricultural Products in the Aegean Region”.

In the second session chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülcan Tarla from Uşak University Faculty of Agriculture, İbrahim Çelik from Uşak University Faculty of Agriculture presented ‘Development of Drought Resistant Plant Varieties’, Erkan Bilgiç from Pamukkale University Faculty of Agriculture presented ‘Alternative Agricultural Methods’, Merve Nergis Vatandaş from Aydın Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Agriculture presented ‘Climate Crisis and Livestock: Risks, Opportunities and Adaptability’, Hüseyin Bertan Altın from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Faculty of Agriculture “Reduced Tillage”, Ömer Faruk Pala from Ege University Faculty of Agriculture “Carbon Footprint in Agriculture and Renewable Energy Use”.

The programme ended with the presentation of plaques and certificates of appreciation to the panelists after the presentations.
