Uşak University hosted the 5th year students of the Faculty of Medicine of Palestine Polytechnic University who came to do their hospital internship within the scope of bilateral cooperation and Erasmus+ ICM KA171 Project agreements with Palestine Polytechnic University.

During the event, Uşak University Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş came together with Palestinian students and emphasized that the university stands by the Palestinian people and students. In his speech, Rector Savaş stated that Palestine is a brother country for Turkey and that they are happy to host Palestinian students. He also stated that Uşak University will always continue to support the Palestinian people.

Stating that Uşak University attaches great importance to international bilateral collaborations, Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş said, “These brilliant students studying medicine have been coming to our university for 3 years to do their internship thanks to the agreements we have made. Our students are doing internship in different departments of our hospital. In the first year, 9 students came and did their internship in the Department of Emergency Medicine, Department of Mental Health and Diseases and Department of Urology. Last year, the number of students increased to 10 and they did their internship in the Department of General Surgery, Department of Pediatrics, Department of Emergency Medicine and Department of Internal Medicine. This year, 16 students arrived in September. They are currently doing their internship in the Departments of Neurology and Emergency Medicine. In October, 13 more students will arrive,” he said.

Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş underlined that as Uşak University, they are with the students in every subject from accommodation to other needs and said, “These collaborations continue to strengthen the academic relations of Uşak University in the international arena and offer important educational opportunities to Palestinian students.

Palestinian students expressed their pleasure to be in Uşak University and Turkey and thanked Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş, Uşak University Faculty of Medicine and the whole Uşak University family for the opportunities offered to them. Stating that internship at Uşak University Training and Research Hospital was an important experience for them, the students expressed that Turkey's support for the Palestinian people was very valuable for them.
