"International Leather, Textile and Ceramic Design Workshop 2024" organized by Uşak University Faculty of Fine Arts and Leather, Textile and Ceramic (DTS) Design Application and Research Center started with a ceremony held in Mustafa Kemal Paşa Amphitheater.

Uşak University Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Lütfi Özav, Uşak Leather Mixed Organized Industrial Zone Chairman Coşkun Güngör, Uşak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UTSO) Board Member Ahmet Ali Dinç, faculty deans, academicians and students attended the opening of the "International Leather, Textile and Ceramic Design Workshop 2024" which will take place on 4-5-6 March 2024 with the participation of national and international designers.

Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Lütfi Özav said, "After it was decided to specialize Uşak University in leather, textile and ceramics, which are 3 important industrial branches, the Leather, Textile and Ceramic Design Application and Research Center was established at the end of 2018 within Uşak University. Our center works with customer and result-oriented projects, with projects developed together with our stakeholders, with the aim of reducing imports, increasing employment and helping our industrialists to produce value-added products. Our center continues to work in cooperation not only with national companies but also with international institutions and organizations. Our DTS Design Center designs special clothes for public institutions. We are working on the design and technical specifications of the Ministry of Health Emergency Medical Services, National Medical Rescue Team (UMKE), General Directorate of Forestry Department of Forest Pest Control, HAVELSAN t-shirt design and Post and Telegraph Organization Inc. (PTT) personnel uniforms. We believe that our three-day design workshop will be beneficial both in academic and sectoral terms. I would like to thank everyone who contributed."

In his speech, DTS Design Center Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eren Öner gave information about the way the center works, its national and international studies and achievements.

Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Prof. Mithat Yılmaz shared the activities of the Faculty of Fine Arts with the audience in his speech. In his speech, Prof. Yılmaz emphasized the importance of the studies carried out in the fields of leather, textile and ceramics and stated that they are happy to cooperate with the DTS Design Center as a faculty.

Coşkun Güngör, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Uşak Leather Mixed Organized Industrial Zone, and Ahmet Ali Dinç, Board Member of Uşak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UTSO), made speeches at the ceremony and wished the workshop to be beneficial for Uşak leather, textile and ceramic sectors.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jihen Trabelsi Kraiem from Tunis Monastir University made the opening presentation of the workshop. In his presentation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kraiem explained both the design studies in his country and his academic and artistic designs and answered the questions from the guests.

On the first day of the workshop, Gökhan Çalış gave presentations titled "The Story of a Product from Design to Brand" and Füsun Çövenoğlu gave presentations titled "Ceramic Panel Application with Colored Glaze Technique" and gave information about their works and shared their experiences with the participants.
