100 Years of Social Sciences was Discussed

The Department of History and History Student Club at Uşak University Atatürk, in conjunction with the Principles and Revolution History Research and Application Center Directorate, organized a panel discussion titled "Developments in Social Sciences in the 100th Anniversary of the Republic" as part of the celebrations commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Republic.

The panel was attended by Uşak University Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Kenan Taş and Prof. Dr. Lütfi Özav, faculty deans, vocational school directors, academic and administrative staff, and students.

Following the recitation of the National Anthem and a minute of silence, Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş began the ceremony by reminding everyone of the human tragedy that is occurring in Palestine and denouncing Israel.

"We must work hard for the new 100 years"

Prof. Dr. Savaş said, "It is the main duty of all of us to keep the Republic of Türkiye, which was entrusted to us by the Turkish nation under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, alive forever." In his speech, Prof. Dr. Savaş addressed the young people as follows: "Since you will lay the foundations of the new 100 years, you need to work hard. The stronger we are, the higher our reputation, honor and pride in the world will be. The Republic of Türkiye has achieved a lot in 100 years, it has come to very good points. But it is not enough. We need to work harder. What we need to do is first and foremost to produce knowledge, transform the knowledge we produce into technology and offer it to the benefit of humanity. In everything we do, you should prioritize being useful to people and being able to serve people more."

Emphasizing that universities are among the most important institutions for the development of countries, Rector Savaş said, "I hope that we can do much better things for the next century by connecting the past with the future."

Prof. Dr. Filiz Çolak, Director of Atatürk's Principles and Revolution History Research and Application Center, said: "Atatürk identified culture as the foundation of the Republic. As much as protecting the Republic, it is also a matter of being worthy of this government. People should live virtuously and comply with this form of government and strive for its development. A virtuous person is also a civilized person. The Republic, which is the modern administration of the level of civilization, is the order of living humanely. As we enter the second century of our Republic, we are confident that our Republic of Türkiye will progress without losing its national, modern, secular, and democratic identity, stronger than before. May the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye be blessed, and our Republic be eternal."
