Usak vocational college was founded as textile program in 1987 – 1988 academic year included in Ege University in İzmir. It started its academic year with the foundation of leather technology department in Usak after it was attached to Afyon Kocatepe University with the protocol which was signed in 1993 – 1994 academic year. It has been instructing in the building which was provided by Special Provincial Administration in the city centre since 1994 – 1995 academic year. Leather Confection, Accounting and Business Administration Programs were active in addition to the present programmes in 1995 – 1996 education year. The name of Textile Programme was changed to Textile Filature in 1997 – 1998. Night education in Leather Trade Department was instituted in 1998 – 1999 education year but it was closed down because of insufficient demand in 1999 – 2000. It maintained its education with 10 programs in two departments in our vocational college with the foundation of Machine (Night Education), Otomotive (Night Education), Electricity (Night Education), Industrial Electronic (Night Education) Programs included in METEB Project which was carried out according to 4702 article of a law and Local Administrative Program in 2002 – 2003. The name of Leather Trade Program was changed to Leather Technology and Local Administrative Program was changed to Local Administration in 2004 – 2005. Leather Technology was closed down because of the insufficent demand in Fall Semester , 2005 – 2006 education year. Leather Technology Department became active with 40 students in 2007 – 2008 education year. While our vocational college was instructing within Afyon Kocatepe University, it was attached with 5467 article of law and with the date of 01.03.2006 to Usak University which gained its legal entity with additional 60th item added to 2809 article of University Institutions Law. Our vocational college technical programs have been instructing to provide specialized staff who is needed in industrial work. To be able carry out the students’ practice courses according to their aims, Leather Confection Program practice courses are given in leather confection workshop, Leather Trade Program practice courses are given in leather practice workshop and Textile Program practice couses are given in textile workshop. As for Economical and Administrative Programs , education is provided to meet the needs of public associations and private sector associations both in management and in accounting departments. In Vocational College where it has been instructed in peace and trust atmosphere, the first principle is to present the best social and academical service to our young people in accordance with Atatürk’s principles and revolutions for a bright future.
